Support for Statistical Strengthening Project (SSSP)  

 

Introduction

        India Statistical Strengthening Project (ISSP) now named as Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) aims at development of the statistical system in the state. The scheme was launched in the state during 2012-13. After revisit of the scheme during 2014-15 (24.4.2015), the scheme was  extended to March, 2017 and has been further extended till June, 2018. The Scheme consists of the following seven components for the DES, Odisha in the revisiting exercise.:-

  • Information Technology (IT)

  • Physical Infrastructure (PI)

  • Other associated costs viz. Annual maintenance, Hardware upgrades, web-hosting etc. @ 30% of IT cost

  • Implementation of recommendations of Technical Groups/Bodies for filling up existing and expected/emerging data gaps, including State/UT specific additionalities

  • HRD issues,

  • Dissemination of Annual Reports on the performance of State Statistical Systems and improving the cost effectiveness and ease of data access

  • Data quality and efficiency improvement measures.

 Proposed Activities under  SSSP

 Financial Component

An allocation of Rs 2881.18 lakh has been kept as Government of India share for different activities under SSSP. The State share which basically covers construction of buildings and IT support accounts for  Rs 2774.98 lakh. The theme wise tentative allocation of funds is given below

Project Status

With a view to strengthening statistical system in the state, the Directorate undertakes various statistical activities including development of physical infrastructure like construction of DES building, 314 Block Statistics Offices etc. The activity wise status including outcomes is given below.

Weighting diagram of district level CPI developed. 129 rural and 84 urban markets finalized for price collection.

 

03 type studies on (local body accounts, construction and livestock) taken up

 

Village level survey covering village infrastructure in 50313 villages completed.

District level CPI developed to track inflation.

 

The type study will improve GSDP estimates.

 

After computerization, village level data will be linked to GIS and will be useful for local level planning.

 

Financial Achievement

So far Rs.2261.56 lakh has been spent up to March 2018 under SSSP. Efforts are being made to utilise  funds fully during 2018-19.
